MOEA to Promote Industrial Pollution Prevention Counseling, and to Enhance the Competitiveness of SMEs(Source: MOEA)

Due to the increasingly strict current environmental regulations and international environmental trend, the Industrial Development Bureau at Ministry of Economic Affairs actively gives guidance on industrial waste reduction, and promotes pollution control technology. In 2014, the Industrial Development Bureau has carried out the Project to Promote Industrial Pollution Controlling and Counseling for Environmental Protection (hereafter referred to as the Counseling Plan), to help businesses follow regulations, reduce pollution incident from occurring, and hence lead to green technology promotion work. After that, they made the industry to pay more attention to environmental work, in order to reduce environmental operation risk and upgrade industry’s green competitiveness. As for the entire achievement, this plan has completed counseling for 201 factories, encouraged the manufacturers to invest in pollution control equipment by more than NT$ 90 million, which lead to industrial cost-saving benefit of around NT$ 240 million per year. As for technological innovation, they assisted companies to establish bias method for processing thick and light waste water which has gained support from the Taiwan Surface Finishing Association and Taiwan Printed Circuit Association. This method can solve the difficult wastewater treatment from manufacturers, and also reduce operational costs and increase waste water recycling. It is beneficial to the Taiwan area in situations of water supply shortage. The Industrial Development Bureau at Ministry of Economic Affairs is actively promoting pollution prevention control every year, and helps manufacturers in lead-in industrial waste reduction technologies, with outstanding counseling performances. They lead industrial transformation upgrading and greening, reaching the goal of emphasizing industrial development and sustainable development equally.
