The Ministry of Economic Affairs has been promoting the Phase 2 project of the Professional Metal Surface Treatment Area, which is located in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park in the Lukang area, since 2014, and it finished the contract for developing specific areas at the beginning of 2015. The project aims to solve the pollution problem of electroplating industry manufacturers in Changhua County, meeting the needs of local industries and to follow up with environmental policies. The entire project is based on the current conditions and treatment of the metal surface industry, which not only lacks capital and pollution control facilities, but is also quite small scale in the industry. The Ministry held the groundbreaking ceremony at the project site on March 18, 2015. The government’s endeavor is to be made known to the public through this event. The government is investing in developing a prosperous area to benefit local industries and emphasize the establishment and practice of environmental policies. The Professional Metal Surface Treatment Area provides the space and facilities for the electroplating and metal surface treatment industry to use in Changhua County. Centralizing the administration of the electroplating industry can alleviate environmental pollution problems. The second phase of the industrial use plan is separated into zones A and B. These zones are set to develop according to different schedules. Zone A includes 69 blocks, with a total industrial land use of 11.89 hectares. The application processes of reserving land use began on May 9th 2014, and Zone A has already been 100% reserved. Zone B contains 44 blocks, with a total industrial land use of 7.87 hectares. Thirty-three companies have applied for the land use so far. The Phase 2 project of the Professional Metal Surface Treatment Area development will be supervised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in cooperation with the development company to complete the project on time and construct a safe industrial environment.
