Most people see government web sites as not easy to understand the complex information. Last year, Chang San-Cheng, the Vice Premier of Executive Yuan requested relevant government authorities to begin planning to revamp the official site. The Ministry of Economy Affairs (MOEA) and the National Development Council(NDC) co-sponsored this contest to encourage public imagination and, creativity to create the ideal government website, with a total award amount at NT$ 3.85 million. Winners also have the opportunity to work for the government on government web site reconstructions.
The reason for this contest, based on the so-called wildlife website concepts, is to encourage departments and agencies to open up official website information, including web site texts, images, videos, or application programming interface API (Application Programming Interface). This website offers public services by being creative, accessible to the people, serving the masses via the site's features. This official website, with the open information, makes creative design into multi-functional featured wildlife official website, which is the main purpose of this competition.
The qualifying competition is rather simple: the general public, school students, and businesses, are all allowed to team up for competition. The , organizers hope to recruit creative people and , lets everyone create their own versions of government web sites. We hoping to attract experts from private sector to strengthen communication between the government and the people and sharing of resources to create more people-friendly government websites.
