The Ministry of Economic Affairs is planning its “Project for Strengthening Investment in Strategic Manufacturing”, in which the National Development Fund has allocated NT$10 billion in stages specially for investment in domestic manufacturing. The project initiated the first- stage of investment with an amount of NT$3 billion. Every manufacturing promotion office will help collect potential investment sources and provide post-investment counseling resources. It is expected that at least eight projects will receive investment by the end of this year (2015) with a total amount of investment of more than NT$0.6 billion. In 10 years, with NT$10 billion allocated by the National Development Fund, it is expected to attract at least NT$10 billion from private venture capital companies. The scope of investment focuses on manufacturing as highlighted in the“ Industrial Upgrade and Transformation Action Plan”, along with other manufacturing industries identified by projects. The project combines funds from the National Development Fund and private venture capital companies, hoping to expand the benefits of governmental funds. In May of 2015, the Ministry of Economic Affairs selected eight private venture capital companies that possess experience in investment and counseling capacity using government procurement procedures, including TAYA Venture Capital Co., Ltd, CIDC Consultants INC, CTBC Venture Capital Co., Ltd., Shin Kong Venture Capital, Hotung International Co., Ltd, Top Taiwan Venture Capital, Industrial Technology Investment Corporation, and the Maxwell Capital Group . These eight venture capital companies will use their own funds or entrusted funds to jointly invest along with the funds of the project. Currently, there are over 100 project cases under the assessment of eight venture capital companies . The ministry has also founded a project promotion office and single window for consultation. In the future, potential sources will be provided with customized fundraising guidance and matched with venture capital companies.
