To improve the utilization of C5 derivatives from oil refinery and establish the mass production and application for related high-value-added products, the High-Value Petrochemical Industry Promotion Office at the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has actively promoted the utilization of chemical processing and technical experise in mass production accumulated over the years by the Chemical Systems Research Division at National Chung-Shan Institute of Science & Technology (NCSIST), under the guidance of the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) since 2014, focusing on high-value C5 derivative development experience. The Office has held seminars and led visits in mass production factories, inviting domestic petrochemical industry leaders for exchange and successfully facilitating the cooperative research plan between domestic petrochemical industry and the Chemical Systems Research Division of NCSIST.
Under the guidance of MOEA, the Chemical Systems Research Division of NCSIST held the Second C5 Chemicals Manufacturing Seminar in the Qingshan Science Park on October 30, 2015. Apart from inviting the IDB and Development of Industrial Technology (DOIT), the High-Value Petrochemical Industry Promotion Office, CPC Corporation, Formosa Petrochemical Corporation, Changchun Group, and other domestic industries, the event was further expanded this year, inviting university professors in Taiwan who have cooperated with NCSIST, such as National Chung-Hsing University’s(NCHU) Professor Ching-Hsuan Lin and National Tsing Hwa University’s(NTHU) Professor Ying-Ling Liu, to share their development experience of C5 chemical derivatives and analyze the C5 chemical products’ value planning.
IDB projects to utilize this communication and conversation platform to integrate the technical capabilities of corporations and schools, assisting the chemical engineering industries to accelerate the one-line integration development process in R&D/pilot run/commercialized marketing/new application development. The participating industries will also assist IDB with the integration of resources and strength capabilities among corporations, reducing the investment schedule for new product with considerable recognition. In the future, IDB will also continue to promote similar exchange and establish the technical integration platform, thereby to speed up the promotion and implementation of high-value petrochemical industry.
