MOEA Industrial Upgrade and Transformation Service Team for Emerging Industries Looking into the Future with ChipSIP Exploring & Maximizing Smart Glass Solutions(Source:MOEA)

Smart guidance applications are blurring the boundaries between reality and virtual reality. In the near future, all you need will be a pair of smart glasses to set your hands free and enjoy personalized smart guidance service! In response to the "Industrial Upgrade and Transformation" policy promoted by the government, wearable device manufacturer ChipSIP is transforming from a miniaturization chip manufacturer to a solutions provider. Under the subsidization of the Industry Upgrade and Innovative Platform Project Office at the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Development Bureau, the company is working on a next-generation "Smart Glasses Made in Taiwan – Interactive Guidance Solution" in collaboration with the Institute for Information Industry (III), which will provide innovative applications such as guided tours, online video-streaming, and other interactive technologies through a 4G connection. The device has been successfully inducted for a trial run at the National Palace Museum. During May of this year (2015), in order to assist the development of ChipSIP’s smart wearable device in vertical markets (such as guided tours, logistics/warehouse management, work guidance and medical uses, etc.), through the industry match and exchange platform, the III’a Industry Development Augmentation Division (IDAD) held the "Smart Glasses Creative Developers Competition," in which 29 teams came up with brand new concepts, while eight teams were able to complete their product development. The top three teams were the "Sports & Recreational Helper", the "Smart Sports Glasses", and the "Augmented Reality Billiards Guidance System". ChipSIP is currently teamed up with international brand Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HP) on the development of a visual remote guidance system, providing specialty technical support and services to corporate clients. The company has received an order for more than 1,500 pairs of smart glasses from HP Europe, with increasing demand in the United States and Japan; the estimated production value is up to US$10 million. In the future, ChipSIP will continue to expand rapidly throughout the world by creating overall solutions for the vertical markets. The MOEA’s "Industrial Upgrade and Transformation Service Team for Emerging Industries" is actively promoting the development of wearable devices combined with the Internet of Things (IoT). By showcasing its innovative smart glasses offering guided tours at the National Palace Museum, not only is ChipSIP serving as a representation of the new milestone reached by our nation's exhibition galleries, it is also a successful model of central policy-subsidized industrial transformation. Other fields will continue to be subsidized in the future to create even greater industrial value.
