To better take the latest growing trends in 4G mobile broadband network and portable devices, and to encourage cross-industry cooperation between Taiwan's game developers and telecommunication services in the production of mobile broadband online games, the Industrial Development Bureau at Ministry of Economic Affairs organized the Opinions Exchange Meeting Between 4G Telecommunication and Game Vendors on August 19, 2015. The goal of this event was to facilitate cooperation between these two industries, and promote the development of digital content and 4G mobile value-added services.
The event was hosted by Dr. Ming-Ji Wu, the Director General of Industrial Development Bureau at MOEA. Participants included leading telecommunication companies such as Chung Hwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone, and Asia Pacific, as well as Taiwan's major game development companies such as Soft-World International, Softstar Entertainment, International Games System, XPEC Entertainment, Wayi International Digital Entertainment, Legend Entertainment, USERJOY Technology, Lager Network Technology, and InterServ International. Several important topics were discussed during the event concerning cross-industry collaboration, the establishment of a common platform, technological R&D subsidies, cooperative marketing and promotional programs etc.
Director General Wu stated that Taiwan is currently ranked fourth and plays a very important role in the global mobile games market. The industry's future growth will be heavily dependent upon Taiwan's increased production of gaming products. To elevate the R&D capabilities of local game developers, the Industrial Development Bureau at MOEA has passed the Development Plan for 4G Mobile Games. In the future, MOEA will provide technological R&D subsidies to encourage game producers in making highly-interactive online games under the 4G mobile broadband environment. In addition, cooperation with telecommunication service providers in areas such as payment systems, technology platforms, and sales promotions, etc. will be strengthened. MOEA also encourages cooperation between large and medium/small game developers. Large companies can provide mentoring assistances to the smaller companies in building a strong R&D foundation. Together, we will push the development of Taiwan's 4G mobile online games to the forefront and promote innovative mobile value-added services.
