Statistics Summary Analysis (August 2015)(Source:MOEA)

According to the statistics of Investment Commission of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, 2,434 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$2,726,025,000 were approved from January to August 2015. This indicates an increase of 6.99% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 11.36% in FDI amount compared with the same period of 2014. With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 91 cases were approved with an amount of US$79,207,000 from January to August 2015. This indicates a decrease in the FDI amount (66.86%) compared with the same period of 2014. Aggregated from July 2009 to August 2015, 710 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$1,278,356,000. In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (except Mainland China), 302 projects were registered from January to August 2015 with a total amount of US$8,676,499,000 indicating a decrease of 3.21% in the number of cases but an increase of 149.87% in the amount as compared with the same period of 2014. As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 223 applications have been approved from January to August 2015, indicating a decrease of 16.17% compared with the same period of 2014. The approved investment amount is US$6,326,695,000, 2.79% more than the same period in 2014.
