WISE CITY NOW(Source:MOEA)

In line with the integration of information and communications technology, “smart city” is no longer a concept. “Smart city” is not just making a city smarter but also better. Not only can we upgrade citizens’ quality of life, efficiently elevate governmental deployment, and create more business opportunities, we can also place more attention on our environment in terms of the resources of cloud, big data, mobile devices, social media, AI, etc. The 2016 Wise City Forum continues the hot topic of WISE (Well-being, Infrastructure, Service, and Economy) from last year, engaging in the idea of “now”–other cities’ current situations on building a smart city and how Taiwan’s cities progress as assessed by ICF (Intelligent Community Forum) chairman John G. Jung. The forum started with a panel discussion between Jung, the chairman and the co-founder of ICF, New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Chen Shen-xian, Taoyuan City Deputy Mayor Wang Ming-teh, and Tainan City Deputy Mayor Tseng Shu-cheng, elaborating on each city’s performance in creating an efficient life for their citizens, including identifying the demands and problems of the future. We have also invited five international companies (Cisco, Tatung, D-Link, Fujitsu, and NEC) to share their smart city solutions and actual cases being implemented in cities around the world. Through the discussion and sharing of the speakers, we have obtained more knowledge of the “smart city” and the “wise” vision of our future city. Combining the collaboration between government, private sectors and educational organizations, the future city will not only become wise, but even wiser.
