Taiwan FDI Statistics Summary Analysis (March 2016)(Source:MOEA)

According to the statistics of Investment Commission of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, 741 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$1,255,064,000 were approved from January to March 2016. This indicates an decrease of -13.13% in the number of cases, but an increase of 1.58% in FDI amount compared with the same period of 2015. With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 41 cases were approved with an amount of US$33,900,000 from January to March 2016. This indicates increase in the FDI amount (69.65%) compared with the same period of 2015. Aggregated from July 2009 to March 2016, 830 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$1,477,116,000. In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (except Mainland China), 140 projects were registered from January to March 2016 with a total amount of US$2,900,386,000 indicating a increase of 22.81% in the number of cases,and a increase of 25.04% in the amount as compared with the same period of 2015. As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 60 applications have been approved from January to March 2016, indicating a decrease of 18.92% compared with the same period of 2015. The approved investment amount is US$2,543,520,000,9.36% more than the same period in 2015.
