Taiwan’s solutions for water technology and industry to stand out in international market

The WRA, Water Resources Agency under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Taiwan External Trade Development Council have been joining hands to organize the TIWW, Taiwan International Water Week, every year since 2019. This year, TIWW focused on three topics: Water Technology, Smart Water Solutions, and Sustainable Technology. WRA invited 22 water related companies to set up a pavilion with 58 booths, the most highlighted feature in TIWW. The pavilion was moderated by Director-General Chien-Hsin Lai from WRA and invited a foreign guest Dr. Chandni Rallan, general manager assistant Ching-Lung Li from Water Park Environment Corp., Mr. Tran Thi Co from Cai Tien Xanh Co., Mr. Vu Pha Hai from Greentech Environment Co., Ltd, and more this morning (14th).

WRA stated that Taiwan is highly susceptible to the steep terrain, which makes it difficult to retain water. Over the past few years, aside from extreme weather conditions, Taiwan experienced the worst drought for century last year (2021). If it were not for the cooperation of civilians, related industries, and MOEA, Taiwan would not have got out of that difficult circumstance. Hence, the issue of developing new water sources has drawn more attention, especially on the topics of seawater desalination and reclaimed water utilization. If the treatment technology can be improved, the tension on water supply for industry and municipal usages could surely be relieved. So, the topic of water technology for the pavilion was specially organized to put emphasis on innovative water technologies. In addition, the application of advanced computer science can reduce manpower and energy consumption, saving costs and resources; therefore, the usage of intelligent management on the entire water resources system is a must in the coming future, which drives us to the topic of smart water solutions. The last topic sustainable technology focused on green and ecological water conservation methods. During the exhibition, the presentation timetable for each product and technology will be arranged, to ensure that every company has opportunity to present and promote its novel technologies. On top of that, the buyers from India, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, Japan, Brazil, Israel, Netherlands, etc., are invited to have discussion with companies in an appointed area.

The cooperation contract between Water Park Environment Corp., Cai Tien Xanh Corp., and Greentech Environment Co., Ltd was signed at the scene and witnessed by Chien-Hsin Lai, Director-General of WRA. In recent years, Vietnam has been interested in improving water reuse due to water shortage caused by various industrial developments; therefore, they started to pay attention on industrial wastewater treatment and wastewater reclamation. In the field of wastewater treatment, Taiwanese companies have remarkable field experiences in Southeast Asia, which indicates that Taiwan water industry has the potential to stand out in an international market. Moreover, having the support from the government, the water  industry will be able to promote Taiwan’s advanced products and technologies to the international stage.

With the thorough preparation, TIWW pushes the development of the domestic water industry forward, creates opportunities for cooperation, and enhances resilience of water industry.
