Rep. Matt Salmon (R- Ariz.), chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, visited ROC Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Wei-Fuu Yang on May 23, 2016. During their meeting, they discussed a range of issues, including the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) talks, Taiwan's bid to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the current situation in the East and South China Seas, as well as the Taiwan government's "New Southward Policy".
