Interaction between Taiwan and Germany Drives Productivity 4.0(Source:MOEA)

The Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the German Trade Office Taipei jointly hosted the 2016 Taiwan-Germany Productivity/Industry 4.0 Forum to introduce the latest trends to Taiwan’s industry. German multinationals, including Siemens AG and Bosch GmbH, have been invited to share their experiences and shed light on developments in Productivity 4.0. Local companies setting the bar in Industries 4.0, such as Inventec Appliances and Fair Friend Group, will share their successful experience on this front. The IDB's Productivity 4.0 Office and Siemens signed a memorandum of cooperation to pave the way for the exchange of professional talents, technology, and business opportunities, thereby substantively assisting Taiwanese industry in addressing challenges in the marketplace, and embarking on a new era in manufacturing. Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Jong-Chin Shen stated that Taiwan has created the Productivity 4.0 Initiative to stay abreast of the latest changes as Industries 4.0 takes hold throughout the world. The initiative calls for Taiwan to integrate its strengths in ICT with sensors and human-robot collaboration, thereby developing key technologies on its own. Taiwan aims to establish smart production equipment and management systems, adding value in the manufacturing process. Andreas Hergenr?ther, Executive Director of the German Trade Office Taipei stated, “Industrie 4.0 holds huge potential. If it’s used in the right way, Industrie 4.0 will be able to solve some of the challenges the world is facing today such as energy efficiency and demographic change. In order to become new leaders in the field of digitalized industries and enhance their international competitiveness, both Germany and Taiwan should work closely together on the further development of Industrie 4.0.” The memorandum signed by IDB's Productivity 4.0 Office and Siemens will be conductive to the cooperation between Taiwan and Germany in a variety of areas, such as talent cultivation and technology front, etc., taking bold action to promote the strengths of Taiwan and Germany.
