Exhibition of Innovative and Creative Applications of Government Information at the 2016 Taipei Software Expo(Source:MOEA)

In response to the arrival of the era of information economy and the development of information applications in both the public and private sectors, the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs organized the Exhibition of Innovative and Creative Applications of Government Information at the 2016 Taipei Software Expo on July 1-4. The exhibition featured the early results of government agencies using information analysis to assist administrative work, from the National Development Council, the Fiscal Information Agency under the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Food and Drug Administration under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Environmental Protection Administration under the Executive Yuan, the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction, and the Tainan City Government. The most eye-catching item in the exhibition was the E-Invoice Platform by the Ministry of Finance, which analyzes Big Data from e-invoice information to offer analytics regarding spending power. Using the system, citizens are able to plan their spending activities. The exhibition allowed visitors to thoroughly understand the government’s efforts and results in providing various information services. The exhibition also features 20 of the most popular applications by startups, such as VoiceTube by REDIdea, which won a Facebook Best Mobile App Award, world-class professional music processing software Positive Grid, and GO-Trust Technology, whose information encryption product was selected for the mobile ID card project for the U.S. federal government and national defense. It was a one-stop source for visitors to experience the latest information services, and a successful display of the strong capabilities of Taiwanese startups.
