In order to promote the Smart City innovative applications, a special “Future City Show” is being exhibited from July 11th to September 4th at the TAF Innovation Base. The event is supervised and hosted by Board of Science and Technology, the Executive Yuan and the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Ever since it was announced, many pre-schools, afterschool programs, and parental groups have responded enthusiastically and made appointments for visits. Nearly 3,000 participants are expected to participate.
The exhibition has entertaining appeal, and the many fun activities provide interesting interactive experiences for children, including an intelligent Transportation System (Vehicle to Infrastructure, V2I) presented by the Institute of Transportation under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, which shows a control system that intelligently analyzes information collected through the roadside unit (RSU) and vehicles’ on-board-unit (OBU) in order to advise drivers regarding dangerous traffic locations, road constructions, and pedestrian crossings. A video synopsis technology presented by the National Police Agency has significantly reduced the time needed for watching surveillance video from hours to minutes to help quickly identify suspects. A Smart Healthcare Service presented by the Department of Information Management under the Ministry of Health & Welfare exhibits 4G applications to connect families with different community care centers, day care centers, and hospitals providing elderly healthcare needs. Other exhibitions include 30 innovative ideas produced from the Smart City Hackathon event held this March, encouraging children and young people to think creatively and come up with more smart city applications.
The show’s opening ceremony was hosted on July 11th. Kuo Yau-huang, Executive Secretary of the BOST Office, Wu Ming-ji, Director General of the MOEA-IDB, Xu Ming-hui, Director of MOHWDIM, Liao Mei-ling, Director of the National Police Agency’s Information Office, Chou Ja-ching, Senior Transportation Analyst at the Institute of Transportation of the MOTC, Lin Jun-long, CEO of the Buddhist Compassion Relief TCBC Foundation, and representatives from the Taipei City Government, the New Taipei City Government, the Keelung City Fire Department, and Hackathon Teams attended the ribbon-cutting. All participating families and children have been having fun in the event, experiencing the beauty of a smart city.
