Industry Upgrading & Transforming Service Corp’s Case of the Week Additive Manufacturing Is a High Value-Added Industry to Be Promoted.(Source:MOEA)

Digital manufacturing is a hot international issue right now. Rapid product development, small-volume large-variety production, and customization are all expected to make a huge impact on the existing manufacturing chain. In order to assist the additive manufacturing development, Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) supports the Plastic Industry Development Center (PIDC) to expand the different aspects of this technology. Therefore, PIDC established the R7D3 Additive Manufacturing Applications and Sample Making Center, which provide total solution for customers, from technology research & development, raw material validation, hard-software integration, customized service platform, to cross-industry alliance. PIDC states that there are three aspects to be executed to assist in industrial development, which are research & development, cultivation of talent, and industrial application. First, for research & development, raw materials will be widely exploited. Secondly, more experience-oriented activities, science courses, and professional training will be held to cultivate talent. Last but not the least, for industrial application, the integration of front-end developer and back-end developer can accelerate industry upgrading. R7D3 Center, as the Southern Taiwan branch of PIDC, is located in Kaohsiung, providing professional consultation and assistance to manufacturers in Southern Taiwan. We hope the establishment of R7D3 Center can help Taiwan’s additive manufacturing technology to become more independent. For detailed information, please contact (07)334-6911.
