Approved foreign investment in Taiwan up more than double for first 8 months

The approved amount of foreign investment in Taiwan more than doubled for the January-August period as compared with the same period last year, the Investment Commission under the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced Tuesday.
The commission stated that approved foreign investment totaled US$6.62 billion for the eight-month period, marking an increase of 143.08%. Approved investment from mainland China also more than doubled, rising 114.66% to US$170 million.
