Green Growth Vitality and New Driver of Industrial Upgrading(Source:MOEA)

In order to assist Taiwan’s industry to pursue green growth, the Industrial Green Growth Promotion Project was implemented in 2013 by the Industrial Development Bureau of Ministry of Economic Affairs, to promote the development and application of green technologies, building up networks for technology exchange and cross-disciplinary collaboration, as well as providing guidance to enterprises on improving their environmental performance and enhance the green value of products. Through the program, most enterprises are able to meet to green growth requirements and create a positive influence. They are assisted in a systematic way to apply green technologies, practice cleaner production, and facilitate green product design or green innovative services, such that their core expertise can be integrated with green issues, which allow these enterprises to continue to strengthen their green competitiveness and added value. Since the inception of the program in 2013, 134 companies have been assisted to incorporate green innovation in the different stages of product R&D, design, manufacturing, and marketing, and the development and application of green technologies are promoted. As the result, the economic benefit achieved is estimated to be at NTD$ 6.34 billion, with energy saving of 91.1 thousand kiloliters of oil equivalent (kLOE), carbon reduction of 536,000 tons of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), and other environmental performance. To highlight the characteristics of different enterprises, enhance added value, and grasp business opportunities, more and more domestic enterprises are now willing to invest in the development of green technology, products, and services. In the future, the Industrial Development Bureau will continue to promote green growth in the best interest of Taiwan’s enterprises to ensure that the green vitality of the industry can be seen by everyone, and new stimulus to industrial growth can be created collectively.
