October 13 - Grand opening of the largest design event of 2016: The International Design House Exhibition(Source:MOEA)

With the support of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) and under the direction of the Taipei City Government and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the World Design Capital Taipei 2016’s "International Design House Exhibition" organized by the Taipei City Department of Culture Affairs and the Industrial Development Bureau, will be held at Taipei's Songshan Cultural and Creative Park from October 13 to October 30. Today (October 7), Industrial Development Bureau Deputy Director Lu Zheng-hua and Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs Chief Secretary Liu Dejian presided over a pre-press conference that unveiled a preview of the key exhibits in the six large pavilions of the exhibition as a warm-up to this year’s gala event for the Taiwan design community slated to open on October 13. The World Design Capital (abbreviated to WDC) is a global initiative initiated by the International Association of Industrial Design Societies (Icsid). Taipei was selected as the Design Capital for 2016, and with the theme of "Adaptive City", plans have been made to hold the "International Design House Exhibition" at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, with six large theme pavilions, including the Power of Taiwan Design Pavilion, Taipei Pavilions I & II, International City Pavilions I & II, and From Ink to Apparel – A Crossover between Calligraphy Art and Fashion Design exhibition. In addition, three large satellite exhibition areas are scheduled to present the lifestyle and trendy, artistic characteristics of Taipei, displaying Taipei’s eye-opening, diverse and enchanting style and features. A total of 13 international cities, over 30 satellite exhibition spots, and hundreds of domestic and foreign designers have been invited to participate in this grand exhibition.
