The second Taiwan-Malaysia higher education forum held on Oct. 15 in Kampar in the northern Malaysian state of Perak drew 87 participants from 47 universities from both sides, Taiwan's representative office in Malaysia said on Oct. 17. The first such forum was held in 2014 in Taiwan.
Ten universities from Taiwan and Malaysia signed a total of nine cooperative agreements. ROC Deputy Minister of Education Chen Liang-Gee noted while addressing the forum that many universities from the two countries have forged cooperative agreements over the last two years, which has opened a new chapter in bilateral cooperation on higher education, according to the office.
James Chang, Taiwan's representative to Malaysia, said the forum serves as a communication platform for higher education institutions from the two countries and is in line with the Taiwan government's "New Southbound Policy," which aims to enhance and promote Taiwan's talent exchanges with Southeast Asian nations.
