GOLDEN PIN DESIGN AWARD 2016 WINNERS ANNOUNCED 14 Taiwanese companies take home Best Design trophies(Source:MOEA)

On December 1, 2016, the Golden Pin award group announced its Best Design winners in two awards—the Golden Pin Design Award and the Golden Pin Concept Design Award—at a star-studded evening ceremony in the Performance Hall of the Eslite Spectrum Songyan store at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.A total of 23 Best Design winners were announced at the event, selected from a total of 66 finalists. Taiwan led the way, taking 14 Best Design trophies, followed by China (8) and Macau (1). Three Best Design winners were also announced for the Golden Pin Concept Design Award, the only design award in the world that celebrates conceptual design inspired by the philosophies and ideologies from (Chinese-speaking) cultures and societies. The Final Selection jury panel, which was chaired by Tony K.M. Chang, Regional Adviser for the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), selected the winners from among eight Design Mark recipient products and projects. The Best Design winners in the Golden Pin Concept Design Award received one of three cash prizes, collectively totaling NT$900,000 (over US$27,000). The Golden Pin Design Award, which is administered by the Taiwan Design Center and organized by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, is now in its 35th year. With the support of the government, citizens, and international participants, the Award acts as a bridge to forge a dialogue with the international community. With a record-breaking number of high-quality entries this year, the Golden Pin Design Award has established itself as a prestigious international award, highly regarded by both enterprises and designers alike.
