Sources: Central News Agency; China Post The Council of Agriculture (COA) has set up an international company to promote Taiwan's agricultural products in global markets. Taiwan Agricultural Global Marketing Co. Ltd. (TAGM), which was officially established on Dec. 5, is headed by Chen Yu-jan, a former global president of sales and marketing at New Zealand kiwifruit brand Zespri, according to the COA. Speaking at a press conference marking the founding of TAGM, Premier Lin Chuan expressed the hope that the company will help develop the Taiwan agricultural sector's production and marketing systems, establish national brands, and attract more young people to work in the sector to enable it to prosper again. TAGM will also seek to increase farmers' incomes and forge comprehensive domestic and international marketing channels. In addition, the company will be responsible for exporting Taiwan's agricultural expertise and making investment overseas, the COA said. Taiwan bananas will be a priority for overseas marketing because they are available all year round and are very popular in the U.S. and European markets, Chen Yu-jan said.
