Kickstarting Smart Production for New Heights in Tourism Industry(Source:MOEA)

A cooperation project is helping visitors to Pingtung's Hengchun Township move about with ease through a mobile application that gathers together all of the most useful travel information. The Fun2TW mobile app has made traveling to the southernmost as well as the sunniest point in Taiwan easier than ever, as information can be found at the tip of your fingers! From booking a ticket, finding a restaurant, or picking a package tour, to learning more about a travel site, Fun2TW covers all of the essentials for a perfect trip to Hengchun. With its myriad features, the app is the first in Taiwan to allow users to book a bus ticket using a mobile phone. What's more, its special push notification function provides travelers with advertisements or videos of a site's specialty products and discounts. Officially launched in December of 2016, the app is also set to include English and Japanese services by 2017 so as to provide our international visitors with a better travel experience while further promoting the beauty of Hengchun Peninsula to our international friends. The Fun2TW mobile application was initiated as part of a nationwide program of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) to promote wireless broadband applications in different industries. The project combines the Pingtung Bus Group's expertise in local tourism with the mobile application capabilities of National Sun Yat-sen University and telecom businesses to create a smart platform that integrates tourism services. In addition, the project partners with over 140 local businesses to bring the platform into full play, thereby benefitting both tourists and the local tourism industry. Having received funding from the MOEA's 2016 4G Smart City Initiative, the project, under the leadership of Pingtung Bus Group Chairman Joey Kuo, shall continue in its mission to provide more user-based services to Pingtung's domestic and international visitors.
