Expecting the electric scooter market to grow, the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) at Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) held a “New Transportation Attitude-Electric Scooter Event” in the TAF Innovation Base on February 6, 2017. IDB announced that the cumulative sale of electric scooter has exceeded 60,000, which is a new milestone. The electric scooter sale in 2016 is about 20,000, breaking every single-year sales record in the past. This means that innovative electric scooter business models such as battery swapping program can effectively reduce the initial cost of electric scooter, and improve market reception. In 2017, IDB will promote electric scooter companies to implement IOT on transportation to continually stimulate the growth of electric scooter market.
In addition to sharing the great achievement in electric scooter sale, IDB also showcased the first Taiwanese E-scooter Standard certified scooter and the big events for electric scooter promotion. The idea behind developing “green, energy saving, eco-friendly” city mterialized again through those words and pictures. IDB also praised the leading enterprises for using electric scooters in their companies, such as the President Transnet Corp., Maple Logistics Express, Chunghwa Post Corp., GuaYun, Mos Burger, and I Sun Green Energy, etc. IDB also invited the best-selling company Gogoro, top market share company China-Motor, and WeMo scooter which developed the business model of immediate smart electric scooter rental to share their accomplishments and outlook in electric scooter promotion.
