In consideration of the needs and nature of machinery clusters, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and Taichung city government co-established the “Smart Machinery Promotion Office” to promote the five innovative industrial policy and to assist domestic companies in upgrading and transformation. The Smart ∞ Machinery Promotion Office Launching Ceremony was held at the Lin Hotel in Taichung on February 7, 2017. Approximately 600 people, including President Tsai and industrial, academic and research experts, attended the ceremony. Through this launching ceremony, government, industry, academia and research institutes manifested their determination to implement “Smart Machinery Industry Promotion Program” together, and build a smart machinery platform to achieve the goal of “global city of smart machinery.”
TSMC was invited to share its experience on smart manufacturing, as well as illustrating the trend of smart machinery and industrial prospects. Representative from the Smart Machinery Promotion Office reported on the upcoming important tasks in accelerating industrial development and future prospects. Introductions on demonstration factories and guided tour of the Smart Machinery Promotion Office were shown via remote connections as well.
Taichung city government plans to establish a Smart Machinery Development Center in Taichung Gateway in the future. Not only Precision Machinery Research & Development Center (PMC), Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and related associations are invited to station in this center, but universities are also invited to set up “smart machinery university alliance.” The government urges all sectors to integrate domestic innovative capacity through the “Smart Machinery Industry Promotion Program” to create suitable technological appliances and services to meet market demands. The government also hopes to create a machinery industry with the ability to quickly respond to and satisfy customer’s needs, as well as to become the best solution provider for end users so as to create new vigor for the growth of machinery industry.
