Taiwan FDI Statistics Summary Analysis (April 2017)(Source:MOEA)

According to the statistics of Investment Commission of the Ministry of Economic Affairs,991 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$1,461,679,000 were approved from January to April 2017. This indicates a decrease of 2.75% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 4.68% in FDI amount compared with the same period of 2016.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 46 cases were approved with an amount of US$54,369,000 from January to
April 2017. This indicates increase in the FDI amount 29.61% compared with the same period of 2016. Aggregated from July 2009 to April 2017, 993 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$1,745,213,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (except Mainland China), 147 projects were registered from January to April 2017 with a total amount of US$4,543,673,000 indicating a decrease of 21.81% in the number of cases
but an increase of 42.7% in the amount as compared with the same period of 2016.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 173 applications have been approved from January to April 2017, indicating an increase of 122% compared with the same period of 2016. The approved investment amount is US$2,338,792,000
24% less than the same period in 2016.
