Initiated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Development Bureau, 2017 Digital Taipei will hold its grand opening on September 9th (Saturday) and run through September 12th (Tuesday) on the 2nd floor of the Taipei World Trade Center’s Hall #1. Digital Taipei is Taiwan’s sole B2B event in the digital content industry, with the dual purposes of connecting important international technology forums and shows, as well as promoting international markets. Each year this event attracts more than 200 international buyers from 20 countries to participate, creating accumulated business opportunities amounting to a value of more than NT$3 billion.
2017 marks the 9th Digital Taipei, with the theme of “Let’s Connect” and comprising international forums, business networking, achievement showcasing, as well as special events such as VR Hackfest, VR eSport competition, VR Hackathon Short-Film, etc. It aims to assist the local game, animation, smart campus, and IP franchising industries in fully perceiving the latest cross-industry application capabilities of digital content in terms of Internet, mobile network and VR experiences, and showcase Taiwan’s innovative products for international business cooperation.
In view of the fact that VR, AR, and MR will become the backbone of the development of the digital content industry, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, under the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program, is planning to set up a VR experiment, research and development zone, and this year’s Digital Taipei is therefore featured in five categories:
1. A VR cross-industry focus technology application forum
2. New IP Franchising, ASEAN Pavilions, and Cross-Industry Innovative Application shows
3. An invitation to French technical experts to tutor in the production of VR Hackathon Films
4. The integration of personnel training on VR/AR, STEAM Maker, and Smart Leaning to develop technology forums
5. Naming September 10th “Game-Day” to parallel with the InnovativeAasia@Taipei Exhibition, which is open to all and will hold the VR eSport “Amor Arena 2 VR: Team Honor” challenger competition so that players are able to enjoy first-hand eSport shooting pleasure with VR.
