2nd Taiwan-Germany Smart Machinery Forum(Source:MOEA)

To promote smart machinery international linkage, MOEIDB Director-General LEU Jang-Hwa led the “2017 MOE Taiwan-Germany Smart Machinery Industry Delegation” to Germany on September 16 for visits to organizations such as DMG-Mori and Volkswagen to promote industrial exchanges and business opportunities between both countries. At the “2017 EMO Hannover Machine Tool Show” on September 19, the delegation hosted the “2nd Taiwan-Germany Smart Machinery Forum” with the German Trade Office. Important industry representatives and associations from Taiwan and German State Government, German Institute Taipei and among others were in attendance. Industry experts from automotive and aerospace sectors of both countries were invited to share their experiences on implementing smart machinery into manufacturing. Invited experts include Tongtai Co. CEO Yen, Quasar Inc. GM Liao, Cimforce International GM Hsieh, Yeong Chin Machinery Co. Chairman Chen, FFG Europce & Americas, Bosch Rexrith, Siemens, and Etalon AG among others. Director-General LEU stated Germany is the leading country for Industry 4.0 with deep research capabilities, while Taiwan on the other hand, has world-class machine tool and ICT equipment manufacturing industries. Both countries have a very high complementary relationship, and through cooperation can create new business opportunities. Taipeh Vertretung in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland Professor Shieh also expressed that Taiwan machinery industry has the qualities of high fortitude, high credibility and resilience, and therefore is a high valued partner for German industries. During the forum, a signing ceremony was held between Taiwan FFG Group and German Siemens Co. for a cooperation memorandum focusing on technical collaboration to advance smart machinery technology for both parties. The main theme of the forum was centered on smart machinery, discussing the direction of cooperation between Taiwan and Germany, and exploring applications and service models that can satisfy market needs, deepening and materializing the collaborative relationship to develop innovative products.
